Matrox VFW Codecs
I edit projects shot on DVC Pro and captured into an Axio system owned by a partner. The editing was done in Desktop mode on PP 2.0 and worked fine since I had the Matrox VFW codecs on board.
I’ve recently bought a new machine with Vista Home Premium (upgrade???) and PP CS3. My old PP 2.0 projects won’t open the video files, I assumed because I didn’t have the VFW codecs. When I tried to install the ones I used on my old machine (dated July 2006), the process wouldn’t complete — stalled at the ‘Updating Registry’ point.
Is this a Vista issue?
Is there an updated VFW codec.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

For anyone interested, a learned collegue on another answered this question for me.
The Matrox Codecs Installer must be run in ‘Windows XP sp2’ compatibility mode.
