    Hello,
I am hoping someone can help with this maddening problem 🙂

I capture a clip (no audio) with a Matrox Digisuite LE on PC#1. I then take that clip on ANY other PC running AE CS4 with the Matrox Software Codecs installed). Clip imports correctly and all is ok, until I do a RAM preview or Render that clip. AE totally crashes (no save). No effects on timeline. No audio. Here is the kicker… Close AE, go back to PC#1 and simply ‘re-capture’ that same clip. Open the AE project back up and voila! problem fixed! To make the troubleshooting worse, this doesn’t happen on all clips. 80% of the clips are fine from the beginning. To further complicate matters, I can take that same “Corrupt” clip into AE CS3 and it works there. Not in CS4 though.
    Info that might help:
-All clips are copied onto a local drive.
-All pc’s are windows XP, 32bit and 64bit (no difference)
    -Field interpretation makes no difference…
    -Memory Cache makes no difference
-Completely different PC has no effect
-Calling MATROX makes no difference, lol
    -Calling Adobe makes no difference

    Thanks for the help!

    Thanks for the speedy reply!
Both work-a-rounds work fine but so does just re-capturing the clip. I’m need to find a fix or where the problem is to begin with. I’d say there is something wrong with the clip and how it was captured, but then it works fine in CS3.

It could possibly be related to this post:

I was having a huge stability and RAM preview problem with AE CS4 when the “mveaepreview.aex” plugin was installed without the I/O box connected. CS3 had no issues. Not saying it’s a fix but try dragging that plugin somewhere else temporarily then test to see if you still have a problem with “corrupt” clips.
