Matrox MXO a capture card?
Hey,
looked on the internet for the Matrox MXO.
I found some good info on it. But i was wandering iff this is a capture card aswell for HDV, others, ..
Yes i know about the monitor thing with the cinema apple screens.Can i connect other player/recorders on it.
SOrry for asking again, i want to be sure of what im buying.

An aja card. Ive got this player on my mind aswell.

You don’t need a card for DV, DVCAM or HDV. You can edit all of those via Firewire.

yes but i want it to view on a monitor.
So far been told that HDV needs cant be viewed on a monitor without an aja, decklink…

What you thnk about that player?”You can’t view the HDV playback via Firewire. The Matrox does allow you to view HDV on an external display.
You can purchase an AJA Kona board if you want.

Iff i purchase an aja kona card. Can i connect this player to this? Or does it just works with separate, this with firewire?I would have an nice setup with the player and the mxo, to view on external hdtv or cinema apple screens. This can view sd also i presume?
Maby i was thinking buying this first and then later on a aja kona card, so i can edit even beta /dvcprohd stuff iff ever needed?

For the record, the MXO doesn’t only output to a monitor, but also outputs to decks. It has DVI out, Component, Composite, HD SDI, and audio. It can output HD, and also downconvert to SD in real time for outputting HD to SD formats, or for viewing HD on an SD monitor (reference only). And it allows you to use an Apple Cinema Display as your HD monitor…displaying a broadcast quality image. With the other options, Kona and Decklink, you also need an HD monitor, and those are not cheap. This is why I tout the MXO…it is an inexpensive monitoring solution.
This is really handy if you have a laptop…but warning, it does NOT work with the newer MacBooks Pros. The ones with the NVIDIA cards. That is a bummer.
