Most esata barely reaches the 3 or 6 Gb limit.
USB3 is 5Gb and there’s three of them.
I can’t imagine it’s a bandwidth problem considering thunderbolt is 2 10Gb pipes and already has 2,4,8, and 10Gb storage adapters for it.
eSata is chump change.
My best guess is a driver issue as everything connected to Thunderbolt needs to be “thunderbolt aware”.
