I just bought this card …..On installation its failing in compressor 4.1.3

(Their tech support isn’t open until tuesday and i bought it to help my deadline ) im rendering like a madman in handbrake as we speak

Does anyone know how to get this working in compressor 4.1.3 ?

If so, recommended settings For High quality HD

Is it really going to speed up h264 or is it old tech?

Finally ,am i better off returning it and continue using handbrake?

Really not too much info on their site
    Any help would be appreciated

If you are using Compressor 4.1.3 you’re probably on Mavericks OS 10.9.2 or later.
You don’t mention which driver version you installed for the card.
Version 4.2.0 should should works so you may want to make sure that’s what you’ve installed.

You may want to test Compressor’s own speed though. If you create a High Profile CABAC setting it’s only single pass so it’s fairly fast and the quality can be very close to x264 which is used by Handbrake.

    Hi Craig
    Thanks for the response
I have it working ,however not exactly real time

I started trying to run it in fast encode with a 2 computer cluster with 1 additional instance on each computer
    h264 level 4.1
    1920×1080
    29.97
    i left GOP alone
    unchecked hardware scaling
    checked scene detection
    CABAC main
    constant data
    15Mb/s
    sample rate high
    and left audio as is
In Compressor i set resize to best and re-time to best and left adaptive details checked

The batch would fail as soon as the audio was processed

So i set batch to “this computer” and again failed

I repaired both compressors and repeated the process with cluster and no instances (where i am now )

I see job segments in my batch window , but only one segment active

Its running and by my calcs its going to take approx 6 hours to encode a 1 hour file from Prores HQ 1080p
So we shall see in 6 hours !!!!

Is this “have it working” Matrox MAX codec or Compressor’s. Sorry it’s not clear.
Don’t use MAX in a cluster.
You say “left audio as is” Sorry but you need to state what “as is” means because some video audio combinations might fail.
You should RARELY use “best” setting levels. They will take long and except in the rarest of circumstances, result in no improvement in quality. Always use BETTER.
If you’re using Matrox MAX you’ve still left off the most important information regarding the driver version. It that’s not current you may have problems

    Hi Craig
It was the Matrox preset in the fast encode folder >other workflows>1920×1080 29.97

I tried cluster because the manual said if i use a fast encode preset it would leverage my computers resources for faster encoding

So no additional instances either then?

The audio was left as MPEG-4 AAC 48k 128kps

    Matrox firmware 11.0
    Software 4.2.0.0006

Noted I will use better vs best

Is there a setting you recommend ?

    In now running tests on
    matrox fast encode
    matrox High quality encode
    Matrox quicktime encode
then i will move onto regular apple h264 encode with instances and cluster
    and handbrake encode
to see what produces the better time and quality
