    Hello everyone…

    Does anyone know the math behind the Displacement Effect in AE???
    So…I am doing some stereographic work and trying to do a little math that calculates the pixel depth.

    here is what I have so far…and it may be wrong..

    RGB(luminance) + (offset x 2) + (displacement x (-2))

    where:::

    RGB = the gray scale image that defines what gets displaced.
    Offset = global depth multiplier.
    displacement = horizontal displace value.

    The end game is to get use the sampleImage() expression to get the luminance value of a pixel and then apply that value through the Displacement formula to get the amount of pixels displaced.

    here is the link to my test file. the smf_fsz473_ANA comp is the result of the displace.

    Can someone please help!!!

    Thanks
