    no surprise the mpeg2 wouldn’t work. personally i use animation codec qtime for materials with no problem but have seen several recomendations from wise old bulls at the cow that tiff or pict sequences are actually the better/faster rendering route.

    Those image sequences render faster because they are not compressed (or at least not much) so the CPU doesn’t have to worry about them. MPEG-2 is a real bear for most things – I always convert to a lossless format to work with it.
