  • Matching the encoder presets in Premiere with Adobe Media Encoder

Posted by Richard Crook on February 10, 2010 at 1:16 am

I can set presets for encoding all day long in Premiere, but they don’t appear in Media Encoder, so I have to totally re-add the presets again. Is this normal? You would think the default location for saving encode presets would be in the same path???

Is there anyway to set both AME and AP to save presets to the SAME PATH or FOLDER?

    I would appreciate any help.

    Thanks,
    Rich

Sadly this is the way it is. I know it’s frustrating, but I have resorted to using my Presets from PPro launch to AME and when it hits the list of AME I reopen the settings and save them again.

    Hopefully fixed in CS5. 🙂

Looking in the Adobe site’s info, it says that both programs should save the presets in the same location: application settings/adobe/adobe media encoder/4.0/presets. Sadly, Premiere saves it’s presets to premiere/presets and not the path above.

My workaround is when I save a preset in Premiere, save it AGAIN to application settings/adobe/adobe media encoder/4.0/presets and it should show up in AME.

Man, not happy with CS4 AT ALL. I’m trying to figure out how to alter the bitrate in QT exports, because it won’t let your custom settings stick. How retarded. I’ll be reverting back to CS3 in the next couple weeks when I have time. What a disappointment.
