I’m aware that it’s suggested that one use an CRT monitor to see what the colors your getting in your Vegas project will look like when shown on a TV. This advise seems to stems from the assumption that the end user or viewer of the project will be watching it on a CRT screen. More & more frequently this isn’t true. Your project is getting ever more likely to be displayed on a large LCD or plasma screen.

Where does this leave us when it comes to previewing what final outcome will be like? Can one assume for instance that the LCD monitor that created the project will display the same way as the large LCD the project may be displayed on? Can one do anything to ensure that of these screens will be displaying the same color? Any other comments are most welcome

    Thanks in advance

ah, the joys of the digital age.

    simple answer NO.

other than the sony broadcast lcd range, that run into big bikkies, there isn’t a hope in hell of matching 2 different lcd’s – it’s hard enough matching two identical lcd’s from the same manufacturer.

i simply continue using my sony crt as a ‘guide’. if it looks good on it, well, in my experience, it’ll look good on any lcd / plasma – with the exception of those ‘tuned’ by their owners for that ‘technicolour look’.

As you say the joys of the digital age. Mind you I can’t but help think that simplicity wasn’t anything that was required then this age was designed. Lets look at the introduction of digital TV. That would have been the perfect time to eliminate all of the nonsense from analogue age. It would have been the ideal time to ditch having different systems PAL & NTSC, different frame rates 25 & 29.97 etc. But instead vested interests wanted to be better at controlling the market place even if it meant creating a new mess.

    Thanks in advance
