I am trying to salvage a project that had a number of issues with it.

I recaptured the footage, however for a number of reasons I could not use batch capture and had to create new master clips with new in and out points. Now I have sequences that show Media Offline because the relationships are different but I have all the media that they should reference.

Is there a way to point clips on the timeline to new master clips based only on timecode? Or do I have to reedit based on EDLs?

    Alec.

No. You have created new clips which have metadata that is untraceable in your sequences.

Yes, you can get Avid to Relink clips used in an offline sequence, if the newly captured clips have the same Tape Name and the Starting TC and Ending TC is equal to or greater than the original. This is done by using “Relink to Selected” (or wording like that)when the offline sequence and the new clip are highlighted in a bin.

So what you can do is make a duplicate of your offline sequence into a new bin and add just one of your clips into the same bin, highlight them both and watch it work.

Matt2005 is correct if your clips match in tape name and TC in and out, otherwise the clips can not be associated to your offline sequence.

Just to clarify- the newly captured clips’ TC doesn’t need to match exactly the original TC in order to Relink- they will still Relink if the Starting TC is earlier and/or the Ending TC is later.

Also, the clip must have the same DF or NDF status as the original.
