  matching black matte for motion effects

  Hello

  Maybe somebody can direct me towards some help… I need to do some scale and motion on some footage taken from the space shuttle that shows a planet in black space.

  When I apply a motion effect or 3d openGL rotation or scale there is some areas of the screen that need a backdrop matte to cover up;

  Using CS3, Final Cut, or Boris RED how can I create a matte that perfectly matches the black values of the space footage so that the footage appears to scale or move in the screen with a natural look.

  I assume I will need to feather the edges of the source footage to pull this off.
