  • match frame can’t relink to audio

Posted by Todd Carlson on November 15, 2007 at 10:45 pm

we are editing with nested sequences and want to match frame back to the original clips on occasion so that we can bring in the audio from it. The problem is that the final cut pro source controls disapear for the audio once we match frame back to the clip.

any ideas how to make this work? my editor says ‘it sucks when that happens’.

    Any advice appreciated!

Are you going into the nested sequence to match the frame or using match frame directly from the sequence with the nest inside it?

Why don’t you give rarely used Match Frame Source File command a try? It’s OPT+CMD+F – you can get to it by View > Match Frame > Source File. That should open the source media directly in the viewer and not the master clip. Not sure if this will work in a nest but it’s worth a shot.

Yeah, weird. We’re trying that too. doesn’t help
when we do either, the final cut pro source controls disapear for the audio once we match frame back to the clip. ….the little a1a2 which is next to the A1 and A2. They completely disapear.

Is there also no tabs for Audio tracks 1 and 2 in the viewer when you match frame?

yeah, it seems to kill the tabs in both the viewer and canvas, source and record.
