Mastering a theater release with two mono tracks

April 4, 2022 at 3:39 amHi there. I have received a left and right mono track from audio to master a documentary for theatre release. What is the best thing to do here? Do I export as two mono tracks or do I make it stereo?
Thank you
Conan

Best to ask the cinema/distributor that question.
Do you need to just give the cinema a high resolution file (ProRes etc)?
Or, do they want a DCP master?
And, will they be playing your “stereo” mix out on a 5.1 set-up, in which case you may need to have the audio tracks separated Left (1) | Right (2) + the rest. -

April 9, 2022 at 6:50 pmIt’s quite common to get a mix L and Mix R files from a sound house.
Just put them on your timeline as chs 1 and 2, and pan the left and right.
Then, as Mads suggested, find out what your delivery specs are.
Having Left and Right Mono tracks vs Stereo tracks in your timeline is really not a big issue, as long as you keep your pans organized. I actually rarely work with stereo tracks in the timeline.
