    Hi everyone –

I’m trying to apply puppet pins to an object that has a simple mask around it. When I move the pins to animate the object, part of it will bend with the pin, while a shard of it stays behind where it was

I re-did it with the object pre-comped but got basically the same result. I’ve also tried with the same object cut out using the roto brush, and still got the same ripped fragment situation.

Anyone out there know the right way to handle this?

As always – thanks in advance!!

    -Josh

I think precomposing the object with the mask in the precomp should have worked. Can you post some screenshots, it might help to spot the issue.

    Thanks Graham –

I’m actually not allowed to post it – BUT – the issue turned out to be a mesh expansion issue after all. I had it at the default value – the object being puppeted in the original clip has some movement of its own, and the mesh was getting confused about what was inside and what was outside. I set the expansion to 72 and that gave it enough elbow room.

    Thanks again!

Thanks for coming back to share the solution, next time someone is struggling at least they’ll get an answer.
