  • Masks not updating on screen when edited

Posted by Matt Pettit on April 9, 2019 at 1:19 pm

For quite a long time now, over a few versions of AE, sometimes when I edit a mask path keyframe it doesn’t update on screen (change).

If I change the resolution to half, it will then update but if I go back to full, even after rendering it, it goes back to how it was.

This is obviously a big part of my job as a VFX Artist so wondered if this is a known issue that can be easily fixed?

    Thanks

Matt, that sounds pretty strange. Any chance you have some effects/transformations applied to the layers itself? Based on this, it might be possible to spot a pattern.

No, this is 100% a bug.

It happens to me as well. I’ll clear the cache and then suddenly the mask will jump into the proper space.

I thought Adobe fixed this an update ago…

    NOPE

    I’m on:

    16.1.3

Still a bug, but I found a “solution” by hiding the mocha AE CC filter. For whatever reason the masks would suddenly be responsive. It shouldn’t make a difference because the filter wasn’t even really doing anything.
