Hello. I’m working on AE 6.5 and trying to use the mask option in 3d space. Using the pen tool I create my mask (a lighting bolt shape) then I make the layer 3d and apply a y axis rotation. The layer plane and pen mask rotate in space creating the perspective of the original mask I’m ultimately after, but when I apply a stroke affect to the mask it creates the stroke on a 2d flat plane not resembling the mask path seen on screen due to the 3d rotation. It creates the stroke affect based on the mask path as if I had never made that layer 3d and applied a rotation. Any advice on what I”m doing wrong. Thanks

I can’t reproduce this. Can you give any other specifics? Have you tried doing this in a new composition with only the 3D layer, the mask and the stroke effect? It could be that some other effect or layer is causing this to happen.

Otherwise you could try pre-composing a 2D stroked layer and making the pre-comp a 3D layer in your final comp.

thanks for the advice, I went back today and opened the file and the stroke mask option performs the way it should without me having to open in seperate layer(good solution though) don’t know what the deal was the other day.
