  masks

  Can anyone explain how transparency masks work? I know you select two layers and say make transparency mask. But the layers merge into a new mystifying layer. Then there are the two objects in that mask box. Are they still layers hidden somewhere or what? More importantly, why can’t Iluustrator act like the othe Adobe products!?!??!
