I asked this question in another thread discussion, but I need an answer ASAP, so I’m starting a new thread:

    1) There’s a table in my footage and I placed a solid on top of it in 3D space so that I could put a text title sitting on the table casting shadows onto it.

    2) I created a mask for when someone walks in front of the text…

The mask works fine, but as the person moves in front of the text, there’s no shadow from the text until a piece of the letter(s) is exposed… so there’s no shadow, then BANG, the shadow pops up.

Is there a way that I can have the text shadows visible when they should be, as opposed to being visible ONLY when the text is visible?

    Thanks,

    Marc

    Figured it out:

    Duplicate text layer
accept shadows “only” on new text layer (mask on 3D layer)
accept shadows “off” on original text layer (mask letters here)
