I’ve looked around and I haven’t quite seen this question asked so please don’t kill me 🙂

I’ve created a simple stroke in AE and I’m compositing it with live footage. All I want to do is mask out parts of the stroke using another mask. I thought this would be simple by letting the stroke animate on mask 1 and then creating a second mask to cover up parts of the effect. However this isn’t working. I think I’m missing something because it shouldn’t be this hard.

    thanks,

    Andrew

Since the stroke effect is applied to a mask, other masks on the layer will not mask the stroke regardless of the mask mode.

Just precompose the layer with the stroke and mask the precomp.
