  • Masking a single layer in a complex comp.

OK I’m working on animating this (I’m still learning so I know a lot of things could be improved).

I am trying to add a few rotating glowing layers to the top layer of the city (the traffic), and as such am making it with an image layer rotating around the central building (on a 3D layer).

So I’m trying to put a mask over it to block out where the buildings would obscure it, … Mask layer on top of the rotating “lights”

    my question is two parts.

As I cannot make the mask layer “IN” the lights layer as it then rotates with the whole layer, so how do I make a seperate layer that I can draw out with the pen tool ?

Secondly how do I mask just that ONE layer in the comp/target the mask at the image layer or the other way round.

It’s driving me nuts I have been stuck on this for 2 days now.

    Thanks in advance.
