Masking a moving logo
Hello all – I have tried looking in past COW postings, but none regarding really seem to address the exact situation I’m looking for… at least from what I have found. Here’s my setup
I have a 3D logo created in Zaxwerks Invigorator that is situated in the middle of an arc created by a 3D stroke, complete with some shining glow. The logo is made to look as though it is inside of the 3D stroke arc; some part of the stroke in front of the logo, and some part behind it. (see picture)
At one point, the logo moves to the center of the screen, and the 3D stroke “slides” out of frame. The only way to achieve this “logo inside the arc” look was to precomp the 3D stroke/shine and mask the areas of the logo I wanted to show through the shine (otherwise it just didn’t look right)
So far the mask works and looks great, until the logo starts moving. Is there an easy way to successfully and cleanly mask this moving logo? Every time I do it by hand it ends up looking jerky (I have to reshape the mask every frame) or the mask gets to the location before the logo does, resulting in this funky looking “double” effect.
Would motion tracking work? Is there an easier way to do match my mask to my logo?
