Masking
Posted by Allan Boes on August 22, 2011 at 5:15 amWhen I’m masking something in a picture that are moving a fairly ammont around( a person, lightsaber ect.),is there any way to make the process easier?
I mean can you buy a plugin or something like that to help???Or is the only way to do every frame by hand?

August 22, 2011 at 5:26 amYou already have a Plugin in Vegas. Chroma keying will do this for you. But I’m guessing you’ve already shot it, or “borrowed” it? In which case, your approach is the only one available in Vegas, other than experimenting to see if you CAN create a foreground garbage matte for use with a ChromaKeying session. Do I know of a propriety plug? No. But others may.

August 22, 2011 at 8:30 ami am not sure if i understood correctly what you are doing. maybe i am wrong but i guess key framing will be a solution. make a mask that you need and move it across the frame as your target moves. then make corrections where necessary using key frames. you can change a shape of the mask as well. there will probably be a lot of corrections – depends on the mask shapes, target moves, footage length. but i am sure you won’t have to make a key every frame. if the tip was right, read vegas help about key framing as it is an extremely useful feature. hope that helped:)

August 22, 2011 at 7:32 pmHey Graham
I dont know what you mean with: create a foreground garbage matte for use with a ChromaKeying session.
Im actully really new to all this, but im really trying to learn, so do you know off any tutorials where i can learn to do it?(video is best, because my english is okay, but technical stuff is freaking hard)But about my footage. Is actully the scene on my profil pic. It already shot so I cant just chromakey my subject, but its a b…. to make the mask look really good.
