mask tracking another layer
Hi,
I’ve got a masked layer that I need to track the layer beneath it.
The footage is identical- and there’s a slight drifting pan to the footage.
PC running AE 6.5 proThe masked, top layer, is a different color- it’s for a POV shot – looking thru the guy’s red sunglasses- which are broken- so I’ve got the top layer “red lens” mask for 2/3 of the frame- then beyond the masked footage- there is the normal, uncolored, footage. But because of the slight panning motion to the footage – I need that mask to move in synch with the bottom layer.
Is this called a “track matte”?
If I know what it’s called- I can search for tutorials on how to attack this thing.

yes you could use a track matte….. or luma matte…. and then attach this layer to the tracking points……. do a bit of a search and hit the help files…. if you’re still stuck let us know and we’ll explain the process in more detail.
