Mask Tool Not Working Properly
Posted by Krista Hoffmaster on February 21, 2018 at 10:43 amI have been having an issue with making a mask. I have done this before and made sure I did everything properly but for some reason it is not working. The mask layer won’t conform to the mask.

February 21, 2018 at 10:54 amWhat other effects do you have applied to the layer? You may need to precompose or use a track matte instead of a mask.

February 21, 2018 at 10:59 amI precomposed it and the only effect is fractal noise. I tried it again and I think I may have fixed it. I have to work around mask it and then invert it for it to show.

February 21, 2018 at 11:01 amI am unable to feather out the mask now. It only wants to expand.

February 21, 2018 at 11:05 amCan you post your AEP? (No footage, just the AEP is fine.)

February 21, 2018 at 11:18 amThere was no mask on the solid layer in “sprite,” but I created one and was able to mask, feather and expand it as expected.
I’d first suggest rebooting; it that doesn’t work, clear your cache (Edit > Purge > All memory & disk cache); and if that doesn’t work, reset your preferences (hold Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS) while starting After Effects).
