I used the pen tool and drew around a letter, I then clicked and selected the mask and copied it and then selected POSITION of the .mov file that I want to trace around the letter and when I try and paste the mask into the path I get nothing. Can I get a little help here please.
    Thanks,

Copy the Mask Shape, and Paste that into a Position Keyframe. Sometimes you need to set a position keyframe first. You get roving keyframes on the position/path, so you can pull either end keyframes out and all will distribute proportionally.

you want to use a mask path as a motion path, right?

select the layer with the mask and hit ‘mm’ (that’s 2 m’s on the keyboard), that will bring up the mask properties. select the ‘mask path’ property and hit copy. then select the position property of layer you want to paste the path data into, enable keyframing for position (click the stop watch) and the paste.

you can adjust the duration of the movement by dragging the start and/or end keyframes.

Using the pen tool I drew the LETTER L and applying what I just learn from the previous two posts the movie (a small bursting star) it does appear to track at the head of the L, which I VECTOR PAINTED in order for it to draw out over one second. Any ways this morning before I go out on a shoot I’m looking at getting the timing right so that the star stays at the head of the drawing action. Watching my Total Training DVD to figure this out.
Thanks and I’ll let you know if I get this done correctly.
