mask that also clips shadow effect
I have a multi layered file where I am using a mask to make some objects dissapear in the masked region to create the effect that it is traveling behind that object. However I also have a drop shadow applied to the layer. As the masked layer aproaches the mask. the image itself cuts properly behind the mask, but the drop shadow effect does not. Any suggestions on how to remedy this would be great.

For me Drop Shadow shows any masked outlines. I don’t understand what you’re saying, “As the masked layer aproaches the mask”. How many layers, how many masks, and where are they.
You can always try precomposing, Layer>Precompose, it solves about half of the problems when AE doesn’t do what think it should.
