mask shape expression
Posted by Davidquad on June 27, 2007 at 10:19 amhi i wanted to create an expression for a mask shape to be animated by trapcodes sound keys. when i try to create the expression for mask shape nothing happens. the mask is the shape of an eyelid and it opens and closes to reveal an eye, is there some way i can link the action so sound keys can control it.=

June 27, 2007 at 4:25 pmThere is no way to apply expressions to Mask Shape. In CS 3, you can connect the Mask Shape to others, but only this.

June 27, 2007 at 4:51 pmIf you have keyframed the eyelid movement, you can turn on time remapping for the layer (you may have to precompose first) and then you can drive the time remapping with Sound Keys so that your animation is synced to the audio.

June 27, 2007 at 4:56 pmThere is a script for roto that controls mask shape, here:
https://del.icio.us/escruz/Rotoscope
It attaches mask vertices to trackers, but can use any keyframes really. Implementation could be a little tricky. You can use expressions to control the verticies if you Convert Expression To Keyframes. What do you want the eye to do, blink on the beat? There may be other ways, like this:

You’d have to tap the * (numeric pad) key to get markers at the beat.

June 28, 2007 at 7:26 ami sort of guessed as much as i wrote the post, i can use soundkeys spectrum analyser to put the keyframes in manually. bit slow but it should work.also have another two options given to me by other members. i am so glad i joined this site! thanks for replying.
