Activity Forums Adobe After Effects Expressions Mask Path Bounce

I was wondering if there was an expression that can be applied to a mask path to make it bounce? Kind of like the Inertial Bounce script? I’ve tried the plug in Ease and Wizz but it only bounces inwards on the mask and was hoping to bounce in both direction before it settles in the middle. Kind of like what inertial bounce script does. Does anyone know of anything like this? Thanks.

The problem is that expressions can’t do math on a mask path. The only tool you really have is valueAtTime(), and that limits you to past present or future keyframed values. You might be able to keyframe a couple of bounces (one expanding and one contracting) at some time before the In Point and then have an expression reference them, but it would be a hack very specific to your set up. For one thing, the expression would have no way of knowing whether the mask was expanding or contracting unless you set up a convention where odd numbered keyframes are expanding and even numbered keyframes are contracting. Might be more trouble than it’s worth.
