I can’t seem to apply a mask on a solid layer with Advanced Lightning applied. I’d like to see the Lightning come out of the “clouds” rather than the top of the screen. I suppose I could move the origin point, but that would be a pretty harsh start. I’d like the lightning to emerge from behind a feathered mask.

The background is an AE file that sits behind everything. I’ve got four solid layers with Adv. Lightning applied. Applying a mask to those layers doesn’t affect the lightning itself.

I could create a feathered shape layer that mimics the AI files “Clouds”/”Ground” but I’m wondering if there’s a better way?

    Thanks!

simply pre-comp the advanced lightning layer… then all your bezier masking tools should work fine for feathering….
