  • Mask feathering creates hard line?

Posted by Omur Sonmez on December 7, 2015 at 10:58 pm

    Hello,

I have a shot where I have to merge two backgrounds and try to do it seamlessly. It works to an extent when I mask one part over the other, and just feather it out because they’re a bit alike. But no matter how much I feather, there is always this obvious hard line in the feather that moves unnaturally.

Is there a way how I can just create a soft transition that isn’t too noticeable?

    Thanks in advance.

I try to move the feathering, but the line moves along with the mask. There also isn’t an edge that close. It’s like a noticeable line in the middle of a soft feathering.

Can you post a couple screenshots showing your UI and the problem you’re having? It would be great to see a sequence of screenshots showing each layer in the composite as well as the mask itself.

I moved the mask to make it more noticeable. But it’s really only noticeable when it’s in animation. I just crank up the feathering. But there’s always a hard line present. It’s close to the center in the first picture.

    It’s not the red line,

I’ll try to zoom in a lot more or a way that it’s more noticeable.
