  • Markers in WAV file disappear in Trimmer

    Hi,
I have noticed that markers I previously dropped in trimmer disappear when I reload a WAV file.
This issue happens in both Vegas 9 and 13, and only while working with `some` WAV files.
I tested it on 2 different WAV files, one rejects the markers while the other keeps them.

    Any suggestions ?

    Thanks in advance,

It sounds like you need to determine what’s different about the two WAV files. Is one of them read-only? Use a utility like MediaInfo to compare the contents. Are they the same? As you have seen, the markers should be saved with the WAV file. Check the read-only bit first. If they came from read-only media like a CD, they may have retained their read-only status.

Thanks for the quick response John, I checked them with MediaInfo and the only difference was one of the files had a meta data saying it was rendered in ProTools.

I opened it in SoundForge, made a null change and saved over the original. Now Vegas is able to write marker data into that file.
I guess Protools writes some info in the area that Sony uses for marker data so Sony avoids overwriting it.

Wow that is strange. I’m glad you figure out a workaround.
