I’m not really sure what your question is. You don’t have to use “I” and “O” keys. Just drag the yellow begin and end marks to the beginning and end of your chapter and be done with it. DVD Architect always inserts a chapter mark at the begin of play so that it can navigate back to it.

BTW, I go through this procedure step-by-step in the VASST training DVD Absolute Training for Vegas+DVD, Vol. 3 Getting started with DVD Architect by Douglas Spotted Eagle and John Rofrano. Sometimes it pays to get professional training and watch someone who can show you how. (It sounds like you might benefit from the beginners bundle which is the first 3 discs in the series)

Yes, I imagine it would pay off. If I had the funds I’d have all of the training discs. You make it sound so easy… I was following guidelines from Mike K for getting scenes into a menu. The block of text in the link are those guidelines.

Let me understand what you are saying about the yellow markers.

Just drag the yellow begin and end marks to the beginning and end of your chapter and be done with it. It that for each chapter or just to play the whole video? Will the chapter buttons be automatic?

I assume that you were trying to make buttons that return to the menu after playing a single chapter.

What I usually do is drop the video on a blank menu and rename the button that’s automatically created to “Play All”. Then I copy and paste that button for as many times as I have chapters (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V). I rename those buttons to their chapter names, then I double-click on each one and set the in and out points to just play that chapter by dragging the yellow in and out markers in closer. (you can also use the “I” and “O” keys)

That’s it. Each button will now play only the section between the in and out markers. Feel free to take those buttons and move them to other menus (like a scene selection menu or paste them to the scene selection menu to begin with)

Thanks so much, John! My mission has been pretty much accomplished. I got the project to play start to finish and I can go to the scene selection menu and play the chapters. The only thing is that they don’t stop at the end of that particular scene. That is OK, I guess. I missed something in the details, but I am happy with the result.

    Thanks again,

Did you use the built-in scene selection menu? If you did, that’s why they don’t stop at the end. Scene selection is designed to watch a move from a particular scene to the end.

If you manually cut and pasted the buttons as I suggested and then set the in and out points, it should only play that selection when you press that button. This is different than scene selection buttons.

Yes, I did. I will keep note of your cut and paste method for future projects.

Thanks for being there, John. I can certainly appreciate your expertise.
