Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy Marker trouble

I have placed markers in my timeline, they are set as chapter markers. I have exported my timeline as a self contained QT file, and have included chapter markers in the export. However, when I open this QT clip into a new sequence, the chapter marker data is missing. I need this because I’m sending my QT clip to another computer and those people will use my markers to create my DVD for me. They use FCP also, they will open the QT clip in FCP, make notes of the marker locations and create the mpeg files using the same kind of compressor program used by Hollywood studios to encode their movies (not compressor). So, what am I doing wrong? Why wont my markers show up when the self contained QT clip is opened and dropped into a FCP timeline?
    Thanks, Jason

Chapter markers are exported as Meta Data on your exported clip but not seen in FCP when you place that clip on the timeline. Chapter Markers are seen in DVD Studio Pro if you exported the clip from FCP with Chapter Markers selected in the Markers box when creating the markers and selected during the export. You can check for the markers by placing your clip in DVD Studio Pro. Not sure what encoding / DVD system is used by your encoding provider or if these markers will be seen by them. I’m sure a call will prevent further delay and more costs.

    good luck,

    Victor
