mapping audio for layoff
I am laying off to digibeta using a BlackMagic Decklink SDI card. I need tracks 1 and 2 in my timeline to go to channels 1 and 2 on the deck and tracks 3 and 4 to go to channels 3 and 4 on the deck. I do not have an audio mixer. Can I do this? I’m thinking I probably can’t without a breakout cable. Thoughts. Thanks.

You don’t need a mixer. All four audio channels are embedded in the SDI video output.
Just make sure you are using a 4 channel audio output setting in your Sequence Setting, and make sure you map the audio channels correctly (right click on the track numbers in the timeline) -
Thanks John. The thing is I have selected 4 channel outputs in my sequence settings, but when I try to map the audio channels (by right clicking on track numbers in timeline) I only have the option of 1 and 2.

Yes. That means your sequence is not set up for 4 Channel Output. Open the Sequence Settings for the CURRENT Sequence (Cmd-0), not the global User Preferences settings, which only affect new sequences.
You will know you have the right setting, if the FCP Audio Mixer has 4 Channels in the Master Section

OKay, better late than never….just realized I never sent return post. I wanted to say the issue I was having was clicking in the wrong area of the audio track in timeline. You can pretty much click anywhere and get it, but I was clicking on the track number on right, which is the one place you will only see channel 1 and 2. Weird it’s that way, but silly of me to not try another spot. It just seemed logical that you would click on the number. Anyway, wanted to post in case anyone else was making that silly mistake.
