  • Mapping a Double Keystroke?

How does one map a double keystroke? In the FCP manual, hitting R-R brings up the ripple tool. But I blew that away because I mapped “Clear Mark Out” to keystroke R. What if I want to map it elstwhere? Thanks.

    Darren

the double keystrokes unique to the tools menu cannot be remapped. You can remap the first keystroke, but for waht ever reason the additional keytaps need to cycle thru the variations do not remap.

for example, take the s key. one tap gets slip, twice gets slide, and 3 times gets speed.

If you remap it all you get is slip.

    hope this helps

You can remap the multiple keystroke shortcuts the same way you do a single one. Open Customize Keyboard Layout (option-h), click on the unlock icon, type in part of the name of the function, such as “ripple,” then drag the Ripple Tool icon to the desired key.

Perhaps something is lost in your instructions; by dragging the ripple icon from the keyboard list to the “r” key it displaces what is currently there (I’m using “r” as the Clear Mark Out command). How do I drag it to the “r” key so that the ripple command only comes up when I hit the “r” keystroke twice?

Ah ha! Now that I understand what you were asking, the answer is what Bob said. Sorry.
