  • Manually move dynamic objects?

Posted by Josh Pigford on June 30, 2013 at 7:31 pm

I’ve got a few diamond objects that have a dynamics body. I then “dropped” them onto a plane so they would lie flat like they would in real physical space.

But what I need to do is manually adjust the placement and rotation of the items (while maintaining the way they lie on a flat surface).

In my example image, you can see on the right what I’m trying to mimic, and on the left you see where “dropping” the diamonds has gotten me.

So what’s the best way to move them around?

Are you using R14? If so, delete the dynamics tags after the objects come to rest. Then toggle the object/world coordinates icon in the top tool bar (to the right of the x y z icons) and you’ll be able to move/rotate the objects based upon world coordinates instead of their local coordinates.

Perfect, exactly what I needed! Thanks Adam!
