I have an OBSCENE amount of 1080 footage to pan-n-scan/scale-n-zoom/steadi-fix in a 720 project. It was all shot on a headcam for a hairstyling course. The instructor whips his head around looking for tools, and too often, the subject’s head goes out of frame, or he tilts as he’s explaining a technique and the hideous backstage creeps into the shot. I’ve been KEYFRAMING EVERY SECOND of these videos like a pan-n-scan MADMAN. 80% of production time is eaten up by this.

Is there a plugin or something that can automatically track a point I select in frame to keep it centered? I’ve seen cheap-o ‘steady shot’ add-ons for iMovie and other gimmickry but — seriously, I’m losing my mind and stomach over this.

You could try the Warp Stabilizer effect.
