Hello C-Cows, newbie here with a basic question.
The Shatter effect under Simulation category is a nice thing to throw at any bitmap. What I’m wondering is how to do it manually from scratch?
I’m not looking to create a complex effect that Shatter is but let’s say a simple shape layer that cracks in three pieces or so. So I brought an AI file (rectangle with a few cracks) to AE and converted the different layers into shapes. Now these shapes can be extruded yes but how can I make these shapes grab the front fill from a bitmap? So that when I start to move the shapes (the cracked rectangle parts) the bitmap fill would follow (just like in the Shatter effect)?
Am I missing something very basic about fills and shapes or how would you people approach this?
