I am fairly new to AE, and had a quick question regarding viewing options…

My situation was I had just finished animating my model, many layers, and many keyframes. Now I want to make changes to my model, which means I have to be able to move my camera around (or just a 3D viewer if thats a possibility,)but I dont want AE to keep adding new keyframes everytime I move the camera, I just want to move the camera to see what i’m modeling.

I hope I didn’t confues my words and make it a confusing question. All feedback is appreciated 🙂

    just add another camera.

ae will preview the top-most visible camera, allowing you to manipulate this camera and see it in the preview window. when you’re finished modeling, just hide or delete that camera. you can even rename it so you don’t get it confused with the main camera.

    Hi Mike,

If you look at the composition panel there should be a drop down box which says ‘active camera’. Change that to ‘custom view 1’ then you should be able to use the orbit camera/pan tools to look around your model.

To the right of that box is another one which usually says ‘1 view’. Have a look at the options in there -you can set up composition panel so that you can see the composition from several different angles at the same time.

Hope that makes sense and is of help!

    cheers
    James
