Managing Music Libraries & Metadata Programs
I’m not sure where this post belongs, or if there’s an applicable place on this site, but I figured I’d try asking here.
I’m trying to find a good music playing software to use for my MacBook that accepts all music file types (including FLAC) and does a good job at managing metadata.
My situation is this: I imported a lot of music into my MacBook last year using iTunes. But then I had to move my music to an external drive. When I did that, I lost all the metadata associated with my music — meaning that I now need to reassign artist and album labels to my music when re-importing it into a new music playing software.
At this point, I’m wondering if there’s something better to use than iTunes (or what is now known as Music). Since I plan on storing my vast music library on an external drive, it would be nice if I could link the software to my external drive (a process that is not ideal with Music).
I also know that there are some programs dedicated to automatically identifying metadata associated with music albums. I’m open to suggestions regarding best practices and programs to consider. Thanks for your help!
