Has anyone done research on Media Asset Management Systems compatible with Adobe Premiere Pro that’s available to mere mortals? Ideally, the MAM will also have collaborative editing and project management functionality a la Avid Unity.

The more I research, the more it appears that outside of MXFserver (thanks Dennis Radeke for suggesting that), everything else is strictly enterprise level. I.e. for larger broadcast organizations with tens of users, and associated capital, maintenance, training and support expenses: Vizrt Viz Ardome, MediaBeacon, Cinegy, IPV, etc. Nothing comes close to the price point of Final Cut Server (now defunct) or even entry-level Avid Unity. (The latter two combine MAM and collaborative editing and project management if I understood correctly.)

While MXFserver appears to be a great product backed by a fantastic and dedicated sales and support team, their product is primarily about collaborative editing and shared storage – not MAM.

For a relatively small studio with 3-10 seats, are there affordable options for a system that combines MAM with collaborative editing, for Premiere Pro?

CatDV offers no collaborative editing AFAIK – but then does anyone else outside Avid Unity and the now defunct FCS?

Another MAM on the affordable side is Focus Enhancement range of solutions.

Any idea how these (Focus, CatDV) compare to enterprise class systems like Viz ArDome and IPV? (I can’t be the only one wandering in the dark :))

    Hi Alex,

ProMAX Platform Studio with the DAM module might be just the ticket. Studio is our new smaller version of ProMAX Platform, for workgroups of 2 to 4 users. If you or anyone else here want to know more feel free to contact me offline at the address below. – David

Thanks DRW. Would you be able to come up with a competitive comparison, on how Promax MAM solution stacks up against CatDV and others – on features and prices?

(Yes, I am looking for someone to do my job – i.e. do a research on entry level MAM solutions for Adobe CS. :))

Our eMAM system has full MAM features. The link below has a white paper on the integration with Adobe.

[David Miller] “Our eMAM system has full MAM features”

Thanks David. I asked a bunch of questions earlier in the thread. Would you be able to answer any of them?
