Making Whispers in FCP
Hi
I’m definitely a newbie when it comes to the audio filters in FCP. I no longer have the luxury of giving work to someone in Protools and saying make the dialogue whisper. Anyone know how to do this in FCP or any audio tutorials out there.

In all my years in production, Protools, yadda yadda, I have NEVER had an instance where I made a normal VO sound like a whisper. Impossible. A whisper is a COMPLETELY different timber/tone than a normal voice. If you want to change the gain you can do that in Protools, SoundtrackPro, Peak or even in FCP, but you will never make it sound like a whisper. Any audio wizard may chime in with a disagreement, but if it was me, I’d re-record the track with the talent whispering.

Thx for the response I’m sure you’re right. Sorry for the miscommunication I was trying to say i would usually leave any audio fixing problems in the audio guys hands. Guess i will have to deal.

Thx Steven, I think my main problem is not being able to utilize the audio filters available in FCP other than echo of course. Unlike most video filters, audio filters do not have an instant effect or a visible effect which can be adjusted easily. I guess the audio filters separate the hacks from the pros. Thx for the link but i found this much more helpful.
