  • Making videos fit the whole screen for all the final video?

Posted by Derek Richards on May 9, 2014 at 6:06 am

Hi, new to forum, but need your assistance badly as I have to play out with a video I made using Sony Vegas 11 and my own music.

So, I used a youtube video, made my song in my version to fit the music in the audio track, and saw that there were different videos inside the whole one that had some black bars, some on the sides, some on the tops and a few other needs.

So, how do I make them all fill up the screen so that the full video looks complete? I hope you know what I am asking about….as I am sure someone has encountered this before? Do, I have to fiddle with each one, where I have split them to make them fit, or can I add a setting to the whole video track that will accomplish this? I have tried just about everything but nothing seems to work, thanks for assisting and listening, DR

You have to split each one that has different black bars and then use the Pan/Crop function to crop out the black bars. Usually you would right-click on the video in the Pan/Crop window and select Match Output Aspect and then adjust the crop to fill the screen. You’ll need to do this on an event by event basis.

Thanks for responding. Well, it doesn’t work, I think there is something that whoever made the video for Youtube did, that makes it difficult. I mean, there are black bars of different variatios throughout and nothing I do gets rid of them much. If I do it, it doesn’t stay. I am new to this, but am sure it is something simple. I have read some threads about unchecking lock aspect ratio, does that have to be done first. Well, will keep fiddling with it, please keep the help rolling in, DR

Can you point us to the YouTube video in question so that we can see?
