    Hi there,

I have an adobe illustrator vector image I want to composite into my fcp movie – I can’t make it look nice – basically I’m converting it into a high res png and sticking on the top video track, but it always ends up looking pixelly. I have tried comping it in after effects and it looks fine – but I want to avoid having to do extra renders in after effects if possible as I have lots of files to do. Surely there must be a way to make it look equally good just using final cut pro?

    Many thanks,

    Sam.

If you’re working on a DV timeline that’s your problem. DV compression does not do good things to text and graphics.

The solution is simple, change the Compressor under Sequence — Settings to DV50, or ProRes and rerender the timeline.

David is correct, although when I do this I usually use 8 bit. I don’t like DV50.

    Have a wonderful day.
