  • Making Text “See Through” in FCP 7

Posted by Eric Maldin on December 6, 2010 at 7:25 am

I’m trying to make some text be a “window” to the video that would be playing behind it. As in I create a text in boris that is white with a solid back background and want to make it so the white in the text is playing live video behind it while the black in the text still remains. Cane this be done exclusively in FCP or does AE or Live Type nessacary?

    THanks

Put your text on video layer 1. Put the pictures on layer 2. Go to Composite mode and select Travel-Matte Luma. That should do what you’re after.

Or put video on layer 1
Put Black/white text on layer 2

Add luma key to layer 2
    Key out brightness.
