  • Making stills fit between markers when dropped on timeline

Posted by Mike Schmitt on December 28, 2008 at 3:19 pm

I have a quick job today cutting a memorial montage with about 300 or so pictures in it.

NOrmally I put down the music track, create markers and then drop each photo into place on the marker and resize it to fit between the markers. On this project I’m going to lay a sequence, storyboard style and drop it onto the timeline and adjust the length of each clip/photo after that.

I’m wondering if I can do this faster, like by using the Storyboard editor and having it squeeze (resize) each shot between the markers automatically. IS there a way to do this?

Put the playhead between the markers and use the mark to markers function Control-A.

    All the best,

Here’s a little technique I like to use:

Might not be the way YOU want to work, but is at least another tool for your toolbox.

Actually, going back and looking at that again… a bit harder for stills depending on the length you might need to remove the defaulted in/outs. Give Tom’s workflow a try… prolly the better of the two.

    Your technique did the trick!

I was able to drop all the photos into place with one drop and fit to fill.

Now I can put the dissolves in and start the tedious task of adding motion.

Thanks guys! You’ve saved me two days work.

you might be able to achieve some of this within iPhoto with ken burns effect w/ specified length for photos & soundtrack?
