i have a school project, and im trying to go one step further in it and animate an after effects project. I want to have a picture of an Island in the background with a LIGHTHOUSE sitting on top of it. and then if the forground i would like to have the words “FOR YOUR ISLAND” im trying to get it so the light house actually has a light beam and then wraps around and lights up the words. I am new at after effects, so wheneve i fool around with light it just makes other things dark. If anyone could please help me that would be amazing. OH yeah if you are having a hard time visualizing it, just picture the Castle Rock intro on most movies.

    thanks

Using trapcode lux would be the easiest but if you don’t have that, you might try making a layer and masking it to a triangular shape. Then feather the maske and animate the points of the triangle. Then play with the blending mode of the layer. This should actually work pretty well. To add a final touch of a lens flare of something from the knoll light factory would even make it look more professional.
