What kind of wholes and how many do you need?

    easy way boolean operations…

or polygon modeling, but it all depends or your needs….

the holes would be like you have drilled through the surface to the inside. I want to be able to shine light from inside the cylinder which then leaks out of it… cheers

Just thought I’d say that I have completed the tutorial and know how to do it. I am a complete beginner with C4d. thank you very much for you help. I am now less stupid!

For future reference, what you asked how to do is found within the first 15 pages of your manual. There are countless different ways to “mak a hole” in something, but you really should take a look at the manual first as it will always have the correct answer when you’re just getting started in C4D.

    Good luck!

In addition to the manual, which doesn’t always present the clearest approach to a particular problem, this tutorial from 3D Kiwi at c4dcafe.com does a great job of explaining muliple ways of making holes.
