Supposedly a DVD can hold 4.7GB of storage. That hasn’t been the case in my experience working with DVD Architect, it seems I can only make a DVD a bit smaller than 4.7GB. Anyways, is there some easy to use feature in Architect (or Vegas Pro 9) that will tell me whether I’m over the max space limit on the DVD?

It’s such a pain to render all the video, only to find out I’m just a couple megabytes over the limit. Then I have to find something to delete and render the whole thing over again.

Steven, you are in the same boat as us all. You aren’t doing anything wrong. It has been documented here and many other forums that while DVDA is great to use, it’s ability to estimate final fit is less than stella!

    Here 3 quick tips:

1 Use and KNOW that the output files should jolly well fit on a 4.7 platter

2 Download the Marks Bitrate Calculator https://mark-s-dvd-bitrate-calculator.software.informer.com/1.1/

3 If not ignore DVDA, it overestimates, then reassure yourself on points 1 & 2 above!

    Cheers

    Grazie

If you are certain your files are under the DVD size limit and DVDA reports it is too large, select make DVD and ignore the warnings and then select Prepare. Complete all the steps so that DVDA creates the image to a folder. If you go into Make DVD again, you should notice DVDA reports the correct disc size. You can choose to Prepare the DVD again.
