I would try Trapcode Form or Particular. But it depends on what you want your fire to look like.

For all around special effects, I would point you toward Particle Illusion:

    https://wondertouch.com/

It is a freestanding software package which will allow you to output just about anything you could imagine: smoke, fire, plasma, fairy dust, you name it. It’s a 2D three-D package, meaning that it isn’t true 3D, but take a look at some of the feature films it’s been used in, and you’ll see that it doesn’t matter. There’s a huge free library of presets on the website, so you can get started without creating stuff from scratch. By the way, I’m not affiliated with Wondertouch – I use particle Illusion in Combustion, and find it very useful. You just render off your effect over black, then composite it in Additive mode – looks great.

    Hey!

I’m currently working on a little personal project and I’m trying to create a fiery-look to moving footage.

It’s a work in progress, but I thing you got the idea.

I can recommend that you first watch trapcode’s form training.

    https://www.trapcode.com/form_training.html

After that, download the project file to “A on Fire” and see how they did it.

Now you should have a pretty good idea how I did it. I also used trapcode particular to create the “color and alpha” layer of the burning fist. With particular, I parented the position XY to the moving fist. Then I used the fast blur effect, this is how the color and alpha layer looks like:

    Hope that answered your question
